Our Story

Motivating, empowering and supporting users to make healthy life-style
choices thereby contributing to efforts to prevent and control NCDs in Uganda.

The burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, and diabetes is growing in Uganda, yet knowledge and application of lifestyle approaches to reduce NCD risk is low. At the same time, evidence-based, user-friendly and easily accessible information about NCDs tailored to our setting is scarce, with a growing trend of misinformation via social media.

eResources for Health is an authority on food, nutrition and general wellness knowledge. It provides unbiased evidence-based information to motivate, empower and support users to make healthy life-style choices thereby contributing to efforts to prevent and control NCDs in Uganda.

eResources for Health offers comprehensive nutrition information through timely articles, live chat and FAQs, while supportive information such as recipes facilitate the translation of food and nutrition knowledge into daily practice. With the media culture full of confusing nutrition misinformation, the general public as well as health professionals and journalists, will be able to rely and trust eResources for Health’s independent, clear, and unbiased content. eResources for Health is a partnership between Makerere University and the Nutrition Society of Uganda (NSU).

eResources for Health does not accept advertising or commercial sponsorship, nor does it endorse any particular products. Expert faculty from Makerere University and the NSU, and other invited experts review all content before it is posted on the site, and all content is re-reviewed regularly.
